Police in Utah discovered a woman’s dead body in the backseat of her boyfriend’s car during a traffic stop.
The Herriman City Police Department found the remains of Summer Tatiana Roney, 30, in the backseat of her boyfriend Jacob Holt Johnson’s car on Tuesday at midnight at a 7-Eleven gas station.
The traffic stop was part of a DUI investigation.
Reportedly, Summer’s body had significant injuries and trauma consistent with homicide.
The 40-year-old Jacob was taken to the Saratoga Springs Police Department. During the interview, he told officers he had argued with Summer, stating their relationship was over.
Jacob is reportedly a father of two children.
Summer’s sister, Michelle Tischner, said Jacob was Summer’s estranged boyfriend, and the last time she saw Summer was on Christmas Day.
Jacob also admitted to the police that Summer had physical trauma on her body, but he did not explain how she sustained the wounds.
Court documents revealed Jacob has a criminal history, including domestic violence. Other crimes listed include aggravated robbery, possession of a controlled substance, DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony theft, burglary, and more.
Summer’s family released a statement about the tragedy:
“The family of Summer Tatiana Roney is heartbroken by her tragic and untimely loss. Summer was a vibrant, kind, and loving soul who touched the lives of everyone she met. She was deeply loved by her friends, family, and coworkers, who will always remember her infectious personality and the joy she brought into their lives. This senseless act has left an unfillable void in our hearts. We ask for privacy during this difficult time as we grieve and remember the incredible person Summer is.“
Jacob was booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail without bail on a first-degree murder charge.
