Dr. Derrick Todd, a Massachusetts doctor, has been charged with sexual assault by more than 200 women, for which he was indicted on two counts of rape in January 2025. According to his arraignment, one of the victims screamed at him to stop during the alleged act.
Dr. Derrick Todd, a former rheumatologist, has been charged with sexually assaulting over 200 patients over the course of a decade. He was indicted on two counts of rape. The alleged incidents took place during medical examinations in December 2022 and June 2023 at Charles River Medical Associates in Framingham, Massachusetts.
The allegations include performing unnecessary pelvic, breast, and rectal examinations under the guise of medical care.
Patients said that the exams were more than what was considered “normal.” A patient said she screamed for Todd to stop during an exam, but he did not stop.
Another patient said that she did not consent to the type of examination, but Todd went ahead and performed it anyway.
Todd pleaded not guilty on January 17, 2025, when he was arraigned. He was held on a $10,000 bail.
His bail conditions include surrendering his passport, not contacting the victims, and giving up all his medical licenses.
According to his attorney, Ingrid Martin, Todd is very keen on defending himself and remains innocent.
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan underscored the gravity of the charges. According to her, the indictment validates the claims of the victims.
Caroline Evans, the prosecutor, said this was a pretty distressing set of allegations, and some of them have to do with patients being hurt during their examination.
Todd has previously worked at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he became a subject of an internal investigation that occurred after a complaint in an anonymous letter was delivered to the facility in April 2023. He resigned in July 2023 as his employers moved to sack him.
The class-action lawsuit against Todd includes claims that he performed unnecessary medical procedures and that the hospital failed to act on prior complaints.
