Arlington County, VA – A mother and her infant baby were stabbed and are now fighting for their lives with serious injuries in Pentagon City.
On Saturday night, at around 9:45 p.m., a mother and her baby were stabbed near the entrance of a Target store at the corner of Army Navy Drive and S. Joyce Street. Both victims were rushed to the nearest hospital by ambulance.
Another juvenile was present at the scene but was reportedly unharmed and is safe.
The suspect fled the scene on foot but was shortly apprehended by Arlington County police in a nearby parking garage. The suspect was tracked down and also bitten by a K-9 during the arrest and he is currently in police custody.
It has been reported that the suspect is known to the victims and is believed to be the infant’s father.
The Arlington County Police Department shared the following update on their Twitter page:
“ACPD has taken a suspect into custody following a stabbing in the 900 block of Army Navy Drive. Two victims, an adult and juvenile, transported to area hospitals with serious injuries. Preliminary, suspect known to victims. There is no ongoing community threat.”
