Osceola County, Florida – A pizza delivery worker stabbed a pregnant woman 14 times.
Twenty-two-year-old Brianna Alvelo has been charged after she pushed her way into a room at a motel and stabbed a pregnant woman, Melinda Irizarry, in front of her 5-year-old daughter. The altercation allegedly stemmed from a $2 tip given to the driver.
Reportedly, Alvelo stabbed Melinda 14 times in the chest, arms, legs, and abdomen. Irizarry underwent emergency surgery for a ruptured lung following the attack.
According to court documents, Irizarry placed an order at Marco’s Pizza Shop, and 30 minutes later, the suspect, believed to be Alvelo, arrived at the motel with the order, which totaled $33.10. Irizarry handed the suspect a $50 bill and requested change. However, she was told it was store policy not to provide change, the affidavit said.
After retrieving smaller bills to fulfill the payment, Irizarry gave the driver a $2 tip. Following the incident, Irizarry told deputies the driver “rolled her eyes and walked away without saying anything,” according to the affidavit.
Officials stated that Alvelo allegedly later returned to the victim’s motel room with an unknown male suspect, who was armed with a firearm. Together, they “forced their way into the room.” Alvelo, armed with a knife, attacked the victim and stabbed her 14 times, the affidavit said.
Police reported that items were also taken from the motel room during the invasion.
Alvelo has been arrested on charges of home invasion with a firearm, attempted murder, kidnapping, and aggravated assault, according to the affidavit.
Officials say the unknown male suspect is still at large and urge anyone with information regarding the case to contact Crimeline at (800) 423-8477.
