Los Angeles County, California – A 17-year-old teenage girl died, and six others were injured after a shooting at a Signal Hill party on Saturday night, authorities said.
The shooting happened at around 10:15 p.m. in the 1000 block of Burnett Street.
Officers arrived at the location of the shooting and found seven teenagers injured with gunshot wounds. The victims were described as three females and four males, with ages ranging between 17 and 19.
All the injured victims were transported to local hospitals. One of the girls was pronounced dead at the hospital due to her injuries, while the remaining six were not seriously injured, authorities said.
According to investigators, many other partygoers fled the scene once the shooting occurred.
It is unclear to investigators what prompted the shooting. No information about the suspect is immediately available.
“They know there were many folks attending the party who had fled the location when the shooting occurred,” read a statement from the sheriff’s department. “Those individuals are encouraged to contact Homicide Bureau.”
The incident remains under investigation.
